Never Never Part 1 & 2 Book Review

About the Book:

Title: Never Never & Never Never Part 2

Author: Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Publisher: Hoover Ink

Genre: Thriller, Romance

Length: Never Never- 159 pages. Never Never Part 2- 158 pages.

Plot: Never Never, a novella series. Book one of three.
Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen. Complete strangers since this morning. He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

Never Never is the brain child of New York Times Bestselling authors Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher. Both have different writing styles and types of novels hence this blend was an interesting read.

The story starts with the lead female protagonist, Charlie waking up in the middle of the school with no clue of where she is, who she is. Little did she know that her boyfriend/ best friend since childhood is going through the same in other part of the school. They soon realize that they are in this situation together and investigate the situation, deciphering one clue at a time.

Charlie’s is a very strong, independent female who doesn’t allow her vulnerability, which she considers as a weakness to reflect on her face, not even when Silas is around. Whereas Silas is a quarterback, a popular kid who is so in love with Charlie that he possibly can move mountains for her.

There are many moments in the book that make you go ‘awwww, that’s so cute’, especially the memories of the past, the letters they have written to each other and of course the morbid photography.

The abrupt end of the first part which by the way is very annoying, will make you want to read the next part as soon as you can. Part 2 ends in the similar manner, increasing the desperation amongst the fans to wait for part 3, scheduled to release somewhere in Jan’16. Never the less, the book is a very interesting read with a lot of suspense to be unveild in the Part 3.

In my opinion, there was no need to divide the book in three parts since the story ends abruptly in each book. Over all the book is a light read.

Ratings- 3/5 (1 point entirely for Silas 😉

Mrs FunnyBones- Book Review

About the Book:

Title: Mrs FunnyBones

Author: Twinkle Khanna

Publisher: Penguin Books India

Genre: Humor

Length: 248 pages

Favourite Quote: “In my opinion, growing older is all about learning and passing it on, otherwise there is no reason for biological evolution to keep us alive after our reproductive years are over.”

Let me start by telling you that I am not a fan of Twinkle Khanna’s acting, but surely am fond of her writing skills. Twinkle Khanna is a regular columnist for the Times of India and surely has never hesitated in putting forth her take on things. Mrs FunnyBones is a peek into her life, much more entertaining than her columns. If you are a Bollywood junkie, you wouldn’t miss this opportunity to peek into a book written by an ex-star married to a super star. 😉

This book is an account of her daily life, with day-to-day incidences well described with a lot of sarcastic humor. She addresses her family members, which also happen to be her key characters in the book with catchy names like Man of the house, the prodigal son, etc. When you actually read the book and peer into her life, you will realize that her life is so much like the ordinary woman’s life, trying to make the best of both worlds, balancing work and personal life and in between trying to steal some self time.

The book is truly entertaining with a lot of incidences that will make you grin. The writing is very upfront, sarcastic, witty and funny. The former actress hasn’t hesitated in taking blows on herself. There are a few special mentions of how happy she is with her name. 😉 The book truly lives up to its name. It will not take you more than a couple of hours to finish this book. I read it on one fine afternoons and it was truly worth my time. What are your thoughts on the book? I will be happy to hear your reviews.
