Power of ‘Now’

Hi guys, hope you all are doing well.  I can’t believe 2016 has gone by and it’s already the last month and 2017 will soon be dawning upon us. This year particularly I have realized the importance of not pondering over the past or fretting about the future. Living in the ‘NOW’ and being in the present is the way to go. I am trying to incorporate this in my life. Yes, it is much easier said than done.  If you believe in the same ideology as me, here are a few quotes to motivate you. Have a good day! 🙂

Title:  Metro Diaries -2

Author: Namrata

Pages: 146 pages

Plot: Live life another chance. Laugh a little longer. let go of your past. Hold onto what you love. In short LIVE rather than just exist!

Some told, some untold, some heard and some unheard – this collection of stories will make you look at life in a different light and make you ponder over its definition of it till now

Favorite Quote: People make memories and then reach a phase where memories make people! – Mou Athena

Metro Diaries 2 is a collection of 20 short stories about life. Each story depicts a different perspective of life, leaving you with heartache. With each story I was enforced to introspect life in a special way. These stories left me with a feeling of living more while we have the time to do so, rebounding from the setbacks, putting yourself in others shoes.

The narration is so simple and well written. The flow was gradual, story after story. If I have to pick my favorites, they would definitely be ‘The Keepsake’ which made me believe that good still exists in the world, ‘The Rare Sight’ and ‘A Pinch of Love’ which ensure that there is an upside to everything, we just have to look. But I seriously wished that the book ended with a happier story.

This is the second book by Namrata in the Metro Diaries series. The first one was about love classics. I haven’t read the first book yet, but after reading this one, I am surely going to lay my hands on Metro Diaries.

If you are looking for a quick read that will make you redefine the meaning of life than this one is for you!

Book Review: Only Love is Real

OLR.jpg

Title:  Only Love is Real

Author: Dr Brian.L.Weiss

Pages: 192 pages

Plot: HAVE YOU LOVED — AND LOST — SOMEONE ACROSS TIME?
In Brian Weiss’s bestseller Many Lives, Many Masters, nearly one and a half million readers met Catherine. In a hypnotic trance, Dr. Weiss’s young patient summoned memories of many past lifetimes, demonstrated an astonishing ability to transmit transcendental messages, and turned the life of a respectable psychiatrist upside down.
CAN YOU FIND YOUR SOULMATE AGAIN?
Now Dr. Weiss takes his research one breathtaking step further. He portrays two strangers, Elizabeth and Pedro, who are unaware that they have been lovers throughout the long centuries — until fate brings them together again. He shows how each and every one of us has a soulmate whom we have loved in past incarnations and who waits to reunite with us now. And he opens up entirely new worlds for all of us everywhere, based on a single, powerful truth…

Favorite Quote: “If you rely exclusively on the advice of others, you may make terrible mistakes. Your heart knows what you need. Other people have other agendas.”

This is my third book by Dr Brian Weiss and I become more and more fond of his narration with each book. This book is a real life experience of soulmates reuniting over lifetimes. Elizabeth is a young attractive woman who is finding it difficult to overcome the loss of her mother, who was her biggest confidant. She has a tendency to choose men who are wrong for her. Pedro is a handsome young man who has the world at his disposal but can’t get over the death of his brother. Both of them resort to Dr Brian Weiss to help them overcome their troubles with the help of Regressive Therapy. Both of them have their regressive sessions individually and with time they get better with therapy. Dr Brian Weiss realizes that both Elizabeth and Pedro have common memories and he finds out that both have travelled lifetimes together. Theirs is a cosmic match.

The book explains the concept of soulmates which is not just about love but about the bonding between souls that is eternal. Your soul mate can be anyone your lover, brother, mother, friend or anyone. The experiences he shares about life beyond death, souls travelling through lifetimes to learn certain virtues lead me on.

The essence of this book will sync in completely only when one reads the book. I would recommend this book to all the people who believe in soulmates and reincarnation.

Book Review: The Secret to Hummingbird Cake

 TSHBC

Title: The Secret to Hummingbird Cake

Author: Celeste Fletcher McHale

Publication: Thomas Nelson

Length: 304 pages

Plot- When all else fails, turn to the divine taste of hummingbird cake.
In the South you always say “yes, ma’am” and “no, ma’am.” You know everybody’s business. Football is a lifestyle not a pastime. Food—especially dessert— is almost a religious experience. And you protect your friends as fiercely as you protect your family— even if the threat is something you cannot see. In this spot-on Southern novel brimming with wit and authenticity, you’ll laugh alongside lifelong friends, navigate the sometimes rocky path of marriage, and roll through the outrageous curveballs that life sometimes throws . . . from devastating pain to absolute joy. And if you’re lucky, you just may discover the secret to hummingbird cake along the way.

Favorite Quote: ‘It’s not how long you live; it’s what you leave behind’

The book is about three childhood friends who are devoted to their friendship. The key characters in the book are Carriagan, Ella Rae and Lanie. The narration is from Carriagan’s point of view. Each of them has a very peculiar character. Carrigan is a fierce, bold house wife who married the love for her life, Jack, at the age seventeen until one day she finds out that her marriage is in a great turmoil. Ella Rae, is a easy going woman, happily married to Tommy. She is capable of punching anyone who bothers her loved ones. Lanie is a goody two shoes, always helping out people, an angel in disguise who makes the best humming bird cake in the whole wide world. These three women are joined by the hip since childhood.

At the beginning it feels as if the book is about girl pals doing girly things like gossiping, discussing their married lives, sharing their insecurities, etc until one day their lives change. They realize that nothing will ever be the same again. Every character in the book is well molded. The trio is amazing and makes you longing for such friends in your life. They stand by each other to thick and thin, right and wrong, life and death… any maybe beyond.

The story is devastating and assuring at once. It teaches us that everything does not need an explanation. We just have to make terms with it to lead a peaceful life. This book made me laugh, this book made me cry. The book surely churned a lot of emotions in me. This is definitely one of the best books I have read in a long time.

Getting your Act Together

Recently I have been thinking of how my life has transformed from being a happy go lucky college student with no major responsibilities to being a working professional & having hell lot of ownership & responsibility to be attended to. In the beginning it felt like things were all across the place. You barely find sometime for yourself. People start expecting things from you and you start trying to push yourself trying to live up to their expectations but you only begin to realize that it is a never ending cycle, one backed by another it just keeps on coming on to you. It just would’t end. Arrrgh!!!

I simply could not balance my life. I missed on a lot of social events just cause I was caught up at work. I just couldn’t sync in the fact that I was no more in college and I have to manage both my personal and professional life together. Here was when I realised I had grown up. No amount of tantrums or nagging is going to help me do any better. The only way I found out of this was to learn to accept the fact that my life had transformed and resistance would only cause me pain. I simply needed to change my lifestyle.

Here I stand today, 6 months of being an adult (literal terms) happy & content with my life! *touchwood* I have found my balance and am enjoying both work and life.

What I have learned in these few months is to firstly to accept the situation however bad it is. Give time and everything will be all right. Also, I learned not be overburdened by others opinion of things, living for yourself the way you want will leave you with no regrets in future. Surely, you are going to make mistake fail, loose, tumble but the sweet sweet pleasure to have attempted, will give you much more satisfaction & pride.

This is how I have got my act together! 🙂
